Project Officer

WBA is seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic candidates with an interest to contribute to our mission to promote sustainable bioenergy worldwide. The candidate is expected to proactively contribute to executing WBA activities including publications (factsheets, statistics reports, policy papers and magazine), events (trade missions, conferences, annual meetings), projects, membership and international partnerships. Depending on the ongoing topics of interest, candidate will assist in data collection and analysis, technical writing (short articles or longer reports), organizing events and identifying relevant case studies. 

The project officer will report directly to the Executive Director and the position will be based in our Secretariat in Stockholm, Sweden. 

Qualifications

  • A master’s degree in engineering, science or relevant backgrounds
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Knowledge about clean energy technologies and policies (preferably bioenergy)
  • Proficiency in editing software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 
  • Knowledge of design software (e.g., InDesign) preferable
  • Fluency in English

Internships

WBA always welcomes prospective applicants who are interested in the bioenergy and/or renewable energy sector. Our work deals with a broad range of technologies, policies, markets etc. and interested candidates are encouraged to apply directly to us via email with supporting documents. 

The responsibilities of an intern at WBA include (depending on the duration of the internship as well as the intern background/interests)

  • Gather, analyze and present latest data on bioenergy
  • Drafting, review and publishing factsheets and other reports 
  • Assist in the organization of WBA events including conferences, site visits and webinars 
  • Assist in communication and outreach activities 

Preferred qualifications of the interns include

  • Bachelor’s degree (completed/ongoing) or higher in engineering, science or relevant backgrounds
  • Project/work experience in relevant fields (e.g. Bioenergy, RE, climate change)
  • Proficiency in editing and presentation software (e.g.  Word, Excel, Power point)
  • Knowledge of design software (e.g. InDesign, Canva) is beneficial
  • Fluency in English. Any other language is encouraged. 

The intern will be provided with basic office supplies. It is recommended to have his/her own laptop for use. Expenses related to the work (e.g. local travel/accommodation for events abroad) will be covered. Location of the internship will be at WBA Secretariat in Stockholm. Considering the pandemic situation, we are also offering virtual internships.
