Worldwide, biogas represents a great potential for climate change mitigation, waste management, energy security, and rural and agricultural development. However, they still play a small role in the global energy system, representing around 3% of total modern bioenergy production, and about 1% of natural gas demand.

To share the state of play for biogas technologies, including data, policies, and current projects around the world, the World Bioenergy Association, in collaboration with the German Biogas Association, has published a factsheet focused on biogas. The factsheet covers topics such as feedstock, conversion pathways, applications, benefits, and policies supporting its deployment. The factsheet aims to inform its readers of the potential of biogas and its global significance in the transformation to a renewable energy system.

To mark the release, WBA will host a webinar presenting the key messages from the factsheet and discussing how biogas is developing across different national contexts. The event will convene biogas experts from India, Brazil, South Africa, China, the USA, and the EU who will share their perspectives on challenges and opportunities for biogas development in their region. The session will also include a panel discussion followed by audience Q&A.

Participation is free, but registration is mandatory.
