The World Bioenergy Association (WBA) is launching the 12th edition of its Global Bioenergy Statistics Report, providing new insights into the role of bioenergy in the global energy system.
The 2025 edition shows that global bioenergy supply reached its highest level to date, contributing 56 EJ in 2023 and maintaining a 9% share of the world’s total energy mix. Bioenergy remains the leading renewable source for heat, a key contributor to power generation, and the main renewable option for transport fuels.
To mark the release, WBA will host an online event where the main findings will be presented, followed by reflections from members of the WBA Board, leading experts in bioenergy policy, technology, and markets. The session will highlight global and regional trends in biomass supply, power and heat generation, and biofuels production, as well as the opportunities ahead for accelerating bioenergy deployment.
