Dr Kopetz was unanimously voted in by the board at a meeting in Jönköping, Sweden following the earlier decision of the former president Kent Nyström to tender his resignation after many years of service representing the forefront of the global bioenergy industry.
“The time has come for me to hand over the reins now that the WBA enters a new exciting phase,” said Kent Nyström
Nyström has served as president of WBA since its formation in 2008 and prior to that has held the president of the European Biomass Association, AEBIOM, as well as the Swedish Bioenergy Association SVEBIO. An equally well known figure in global bioenergy circles Dr Kopetz has also previously served as president of AEBIOM as well as the Austrian Biomass Association.
