Jord, a member of the World Bioenergy Associaation, has installed a 368.6 kWp solar system with 261 kWh of battery storage at its biomass processing plant in San Pedro de Macorís. The system is expected to generate about 567,000 kWh annually — nearly matching the site's full electricity demand — and cut roughly 340 metric tons of CO2 emissions per year.
The solar-plus-storage system was designed and built by Dominican renewable energy company ENSO. Beyond cutting emissions, it reduces the plant's dependence on the national grid, helps buffer against price volatility, and keeps operations running during power outages.
