The World Bioenergy Association (WBA) is pleased to welcome CORMA, the Chilean Wood Corporation, as a new member of its global network.
CORMA is the leading trade association representing Chile's forestry and wood sector. The association works to promote sustainable forest management, the circular bioeconomy, and innovative bioenergy solutions, while actively fostering the use of sustainable forest biomass as a strategic and renewable resource.
Bioenergy plays an important role in Chile's energy system, representing approximately 25% of the country's primary energy matrix and standing as its leading renewable energy source. Through its work, CORMA supports the contribution of the forestry sector and sustainable forest biomass to Chile's sustainable development and national carbon neutrality goals.
Commenting on CORMA's decision to join WBA, Rodrigo O'Ryan, President of CORMA, said:
"In Chile, bioenergy is the leading renewable source, representing about 25% of our primary energy matrix. Joining WBA allows us to share this experience while collaborating with global leaders. We aim to exchange best practices, drive technological innovation, and strengthen the forestry sector's contribution to a clean, reliable, and carbon-neutral global energy future."
CORMA's membership strengthens WBA's network in Latin America and brings valuable experience from Chile's forestry and bioenergy sectors to the global bioenergy dialogue.
WBA looks forward to working closely with CORMA to facilitate knowledge exchange, strengthen international cooperation, and advance sustainable bioenergy solutions worldwide.
Welcome to WBA, CORMA!
