Since the end of 2025, the new ISO 17829 standard for pellet length determi- nation has come into force. The standard specifies sample sizes ranging from 100 g up to 5.000 g, depending on the respective length parameter to be deter- mined. Even a 100 g sample may already contain 200 – 300 pellets, depending on pellet quality and dimensions.
Measuring such large numbers of pellets manually with a caliper is highly time- consuming, labour-intensive, and prone to operator influence. For testing la- boratories and quality control departments, this creates a significant workload when performing routine analyses according to the new standard.
The BEA Length Measuring Device (BEA LMD) offers an efficient and reliable solution. The system automatically de- termines pellet lengths for large sample quantities in full compliance with ISO 17829, enabling rapid and reproducible measurements while significantly reducing analysis time.
