Strategic Partnership to Advance Biogas Development

The World Bioenergy Association (WBA) is pleased to announce a significant step forward in its mission to promote sustainable bioenergy solutions worldwide. The WBA has entered into a strategic partnership with the Indian Biogas Association (IBA) aimed at advancing the development and adoption of biogas technologies in India and beyond.

Biogas, a renewable energy source produced through the anaerobic digestion of organic matter, holds immense potential as a clean and sustainable alternative to traditional fossil fuels. Through this partnership, the WBA and IBA seek to leverage their combined expertise and resources to drive innovation, awareness, and policy advocacy in the field of biogas.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two organizations outlines a framework for collaboration on various fronts, including:

  • Exchange of knowledge and best practices
  • Joint research and development initiatives
  • Capacity building and training programs
  • Advocacy for supportive policies and regulations

Commenting on the partnership, Bharadwaj Kummamuru, Executive Director of the WBA, stated, "We are excited to join forces with the Indian Biogas Association to accelerate the growth of biogas as a key component of the sustainable energy transition in India. By pooling our expertise and resources, we aim to foster innovation and drive positive change in the biogas sector."

As part of the partnership, both organizations will actively engage in public outreach and communication efforts. Updates on collaborative projects, research findings, and policy developments will be shared on their respective websites and social media platforms.

The WBA and IBA are committed to working closely with stakeholders from government, industry, academia, and civil society to realize the full potential of biogas as a renewable energy source.
