As part of the International Advisory Committee (IAC) of REN21 IREC's (International Renewable Energy Conference), WBA was invited to the IAC meeting in Berlin on 8 April 2019. The meeting was held along the sidelines of the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue (BETD) 2019 conference. The next IREC will be held in Seoul, South Korea during 23 - 25 October 2019 .
The meeting was held to discuss and debate the development of the program of the conference which will include side events, 35 parallel sessions, plenary high level sessions and site visits for delegates. Delegates had an opportunity to collectively brainstorm challenging questions and identify speakers for the sessions. The discussions were taken into consideration by the representatives from Korean Energy Agency.
WBA as part of the IAC contributed with inputs on latest developments in the bioenergy sector and the importance of solid, liquid and gaseous bioenergy towards the sustainable development in Korea and in Asia.

The International Renewable Energy Conference (IREC) is a high-level political conference series hosted by a national government every two years. It provides a forum for policy and decision makers to exchange on renewable energy national and regional developments. KIREC is the first IREC to be co-organized jointly by a national and municipal government, underlining the importance of cities in driving renewable energy uptake and their importance in implementing national policies. The IREC consists of high-level plenary sessions, interactive parallel sessions and plenty of time to network and learn.
