On occasion of WBA Bioenergy Mission to Japan 2017, we are co - organizing 2 international conferences in Tokyo and Nagano along with our partners in Japan - Renewable Energy Institute (REI). International experts in the bioenergy sector will highlight the development of bioenergy globally. The Nagano symposium will be held as part of the International Wood Fair 2017.
The role of bioenergy is being redefined as a necessary balancing power source for solar and wind power generation, which are showing rapid growth throughout the globe. In the symposium, latest trends in bioenergy policies and technologies will be introduced by experts from Sweden and the world. We hope this will provide new insights for compiling integrated bioenergy policies and visions in Japan.
Site 1: Saku general hospital: The hospital in Saku-city that is operating a wood chip boiler (200kW) in 2015 with gas CHP. Wood chip has been supplied by a local forestry enterprise.
Site 2: Iizuna forest biomass power plant: Two biomass generation facilities (1.3MWel, 1.5WMel) using both local wood chip and demolished wood.
Woody Biomass transforming the local energy system (Nagano, 24 May)
Successful case-stories from Europe on woody biomass utilization will be introduced, including heat utilization which is still an under-developed market in Japan. There will also be Japanese companies and local government officials discussing future directions of woody biomass energy developments. This symposium will be held as part of the International Wood Fair 2017.
