Mimi Moto joins WBA

The World Bioenergy Association (WBA) is proud to welcome Mimi Moto as our newest member!

Mimi Moto is a Netherlands-based company focused on making clean cooking accessible worldwide. Its flagship products are 2 pellet-fueled biomass cookstoves, unique in being the only cookstoves certified as clean by the World Health Organization. The stoves run on locally produced pellets made from biomass waste but also other granular waste streams like macadamia nut shells or palm kernel shells, creating a local economy. Mimi Moto’s approach goes beyond selling stoves: it uses a “Tool & Fuel” model, where success depends on pairing the appliance (Tool) with a reliable, affordable supply chain of locally produced pellets (Fuel). This creates new business opportunities for local entrepreneurs in fuel production, distribution, and retail, while households save up to 50% on energy costs compared to charcoal, firewood and LPG.

The company works with companies and local distributors in more than 25 countries, supporting them in setting up pellet factories, distribution networks, and financing models based on our 12 years of experience in the market. This combination of clean technology and a scalable fuel business offers a pathway for both commercial growth and social impact, tackling energy poverty while supporting local economies.

And as Aart de Heer, Design Engineer at Mimi Moto, explains, joining WBA provides the "opportunity to collaborate closely with companies active in the biomass fuel (pellet) cooking sector, stay updated on recent developments, and connect with suppliers and partners who see the potential of clean, affordable pellet cooking solutions."
