I am a member of the board because I

want to: I am a member of the board because I want to contribute to increase a sustainable utilization and a fair distribution of bioenergy on a global level in order to combat climate change and secure supply of energy.

Important issue at home right now:  The Swedish Presidency of the EU occurs when COP 15, the UN Climate Change Conference takes place in Copenhagen. That leads to a great opportunity to influence strategies for increasing the use of renewable energy sources when the new global agreement will be negotiated.
Another important issue is the development of the 2nd generation of fuels for the transportation sector.

Important issue globally right now: Of course the COP 15 gives WBA a great chance to make actions, present position papers, etcetera in order to present the bioenergy possibilities.
Other important issues are to solve the conflict between biomass for food and energy and the displacement  (indirect land use) problem. As long as we have large amounts of land not used for growing anything or used very inefficiently, there should not be a conflict. So it must be shown that secure supply of food and energy can be reached in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way.

Special interest/knowledge in the bioenergy area: Many years experience of district heating and developing cogeneration of electricity and heat using different energy sources.
Many years of discussions with politicians and putting proposals for influencing the energy politics. Especially by means of introducing different steering instruments.
