Potential for eco-efficient economy
A newly-produced report ‘A European Eco-efficient Economy’ focuses on Europe’s potential for creating an eco-efficient economy, one of the areas that will be given priority during the Swedish EU Presidency.
“The transition to an eco-efficient economy means a chance for Europe to meet the current climate and financial crisis together, while creating green jobs, competitiveness and confidence in the future through new innovations. The report provides us with a common starting point in the discussions on how Europe will be able to realise this vision,” says Minister for Enterprise and Energy Maud Olofsson.
The report describes how challenges such as the climate crisis, the financial crisis and a greater demand for natural resources could become opportunities by being dealt with using a coherent approach. It raises the importance of change in meeting these challenges, ensuring competitiveness and creating growth. It also examines both current and new projects, and presents a number of issues and proposals for political discussion.
